Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando revealed that a total of 178,000 vehicles have been imported by the end of April this year.
He told Parliament that this includes mortocycles and three-wheelers.
The Deputy Minister said the 50 percent surchage on Customs duty was imposed for vehilce imports for three months to limit their imports due to external situations.
He said this while rersponding to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Peremadasa on vehicle imports.
