Over 120 foreign nationals arrested in Rajagiriya

Colombo, May 3 (Daily Mirror) - The police have arrested at least 120 foreign nationals during a raid at a location on Meda Welikada Road in Rajagiriya. The group was taken into custody following reports of their involvement in large-scale illegal financial transactions and other illicit operations conducted within the country.

The arrested suspects represent a diverse range of nationalities, including citizens from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Madagascar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia. During the operation, police seized a significant amount of equipment used for their activities, including numerous laptops and mobile phones, which are now in police custody for further forensic analysis.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had been operating this sophisticated fraudulent business by renting several floors of an apartment complex.

A group of suspects managed to evade capture and fled the scene during the initial raid. Welikada Police are currently conducting extensive investigations and have launched a manhunt to track down and arrest those who escaped.
