Over 1,500 suspects arrested in special raid in WP

A total of 1,505 persons were arrested in a special crimes prevention operation conducted in the Western Province yesterday.

Police said the operation was conducted from 8 a.m to 5 p.m yesterday under the directions of Western Province Senior DIG Deshabandu Thennakoon.

Accordingly, a total of 707 suspects against whom arrest warrants have been issued were among those arrested.

Also, 405 suspects were arrested in connection with several criminal offences and 63 persons were arrested over varioues crimes during the raid.(DSB)
