Organize public transportation before re-opening country: Dr. Herath

Before re-opening the country, plans should be submitted to organize how public transportation would operate, Health Services Deputy Director General Dr. Hemantha Herath said.

Addressing the media today, he said if proper plans for public service are not announced, the government will again be forced to go for another lockdown.

"I made daily requests to all those who are responsible for the transport services that it won't be possible to resume transporting people after opening the country.

Therefore, it is important to prepare and publish the plans to make sure that the transport sector will function in accordance with that plan.

If not, we have no other alternative but to go for another total lockdown, Dr. Herath cautioned.
