NPP clinches Dehiowita PS chairmanship after 17–17 deadlock

Colombo, June 17 (Daily Mirror) - The National People’s Power (NPP) secured another key local government win after a 17–17 tie in the Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabha chairman vote was resolved through a draw of lots.

NPP’s Samanasiri Weerasinghe emerged as chairman after the tie-breaking draw favoured him over Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate Damidu Shaminda. 

Both contenders received equal support during the vote, prompting the draw in line with official procedures.
