NOCSL to Hold Special General Meeting on March 14

Feb.20 (Mirror Sports) - The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) has announced that a Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held on March 14 at 4.00 p.m. at the Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium, Olympic House, Independence Avenue, Colombo. According to the official notice dated February 17, 2026, the meeting has been convened in terms of Article 15.7 of the NOC Sri Lanka Constitution.

The 2022–2025 term of office of NOCSL concluded on 2025 December 27, The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) have informed NOCSL President Suresh Subramaniam that the election for the next four-year term (2025–2029) must be conducted before April 30. The agenda of the SGM includes roll call, tabling of the IOC letter dated 2026January 12, regarding the membership eligibility of affiliated National Federations, proposing a date for the upcoming Elective General Meeting (EGM), and the appointment of an Independent Election Commission in line with constitutional provisions. Member federations have been requested to nominate three delegates — including at least one female representative — from among their current Executive Committee members.

The notice further states that, in keeping with IOC instructions, any NOCSL member or official currently under investigation and/or sanction will not be permitted to attend General Assembly meetings or contest positions at forthcoming elections.
