Military deployed at Galle Face Green

Security has been tightened and the military has deployed the "Gotagoga" protest site following the attack by pro-government protesters.

Army, STF and additional police teams have been deployed and a Police curfew is currently underway.

Police said all the persons in the area should be kept in their homes and strict action will be taken against those violating curfew orders.

A tense situation had prevailed after supporters of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa stormed at GotaGogama protest site and attacked the peaceful protesters and destroyed tents at the site.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
