Man shot dead in Panadura, Police suspect underworld conflict

A 55-year-old man was shot dead in the Alubogahawatta area of Panadura last night (27), police said.

According to police, two men came on a motorbike and shot the victim while he was inside a house. They then fled the scene.

The victim, a resident of Alubogahawatta, died from the gunshot wounds.

Police said the reason for the killing and the weapon used are not yet known. Investigations are ongoing by Panadura South Police.

It has been revealed that the victim was the father-in-law of a criminal gang member known as Panadura Nilanga. Police suspect that the shooting was ordered by another gang leader, Panadura Salindu.
