Man gunned down in Dikwella

Dikwella, Nov 21 (Daily Mirror) - A 48-year-old man riding a motorcycle was shot dead in Walasgala, Dikwella, this morning. 

Police said that the victim, a driver, was shot at with a T-56 assault rifle. 

Police believe the shooting may be linked to an ongoing court case involving the victim, who is accused of collecting ransoms in the area under the name of an alleged organised underworld member.

Police suspect a connection between the shooting and the ransom-related incident. 

Investigations are underway to determine how the gunmen had carried out the crime and to arrest the suspects.
