Man arrested for breaking into bank ATMs and stole Rs.7.6 Mn

Police arrested a suspect for breaking into two ATM dispensers and stealing over Rs.7.6 million in cash, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

He said the suspect had broken into ATM dispensers in Anuradhapura and Minneriya areas.

The Anuradhapura Police arrested the 30-year-old suspect who is a resident of Eppawala.

Police recovered Rs.2.9 million in cash from the suspect possession at the time of the arrest.

The Spokesman said police also siezed a lorry worth Rs. 2.4 million, a motorbike worth Rs. 900,000 and electronic items worth Rs. 175,000 from the suspect which he believed to have bought  from the stolen money.

He is to produced in Court today.
