Malwana student standoff draws PM’s attention

Colombo, May 17 (Daily Mirror) - The attention of the Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Minister, and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has been drawn to the situation involving a group of university students who have been staying for several days on a land in the Malwana area under the custody of the Dompe Divisional Secretariat.

According to official sources, the matter and the students’ demands have been taken up for review at the highest level. A discussion with the relevant parties is scheduled to be held tomorrow (18) at the Prime Minister’s Office under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Authorities said that further action regarding the issue will be determined following the outcome of this meeting.
