Mainly fair weather prevails over island, around sea area

In an announcement, the Meteorology Department said today that mainly fair weather will prevail over the island and around the sea areas throughout the day.

They said the winds will be north-easterly and with speeds ranging from 25 to 35 km/h but may increase to 40 to 50 km/h over the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Colombo via Mannar and Puttalam, and over the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

Meanwhile, the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Colombo via Mannar and Puttalam and the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be fairly rough at times.

The rest of the sea areas around the island will be moderate, the Met department further added. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
