MPs’ requests for security to be forwarded to National Security Council: Acting IGP

Colombo, May 26 (Daily Mirror) - Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya said steps will be taken to refer the requests made for security by Members of Parliament to the National Security Council for consideration.

He said security has been provided to MPs after recieving their threat assessement reports.

The matter was discussed during a meeting chaired by Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne at the Parliament Complex recently. The meeting was attended by political party leaders as well.

The Speaker instructed the Acting IGP to inform him about the progress of the MPs' threat assessement reports.
