MP Archchuna surrenders before court, warrant recalled

The Colombo Magistrate's Court today recalled the arrest warrant issued against newly elected Jaffna District Parliamentarian Dr. Ramanathan Archchuna after he surrendered before court.

On November 26, court had issued a warrant for the arrest of Dr. Ramanathan Archchuna for failing to appear in connection with a road traffic accident that occurred in 2021.

Counsel appearing on behalf of Dr. Archchuna informed the court that his client had forgotten the court date as he was attending a parliamentary session on November 26.

Taking these facts into consideration, Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera decided to recall the arrest warrant issued on Dr. Ramanathan Archchuna.
