Lionel Messi meets Shah Rukh Khan, unveils 70-ft statue In Kolkata

Colombo, Dec. 13 (Daily Mirror) - Football icon Lionel Messi virtually unveiled his 70-foot statue from Salt Lake stadium, with West Bengal Minister Sujit Bose and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan present at the event on Saturday.

Messi is currently with Shah Rukh Khan as the ceremony at Yuva Bharati Krirangan gets underway.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is expected to arrive at the stadium shortly and will take part in various events in Kolkata before departing for Hyderabad on Saturday evening, kicking off the first leg of his three-day India tour.

Kolkata witnessed a football and entertainment extravaganza on Saturday as global football icon Lionel Messi and Shah Rukh Khan arrived in the City of Joy ahead of the GOAT Tour India 2025.

Messi, travelling from Miami, was welcomed by thousands of fans who gathered at various points to catch a glimpse of the FIFA World Cup-winning captain.

The Argentine legend is scheduled to attend a packed day of engagements in the city, including meetings with former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Following Kolkata, Messi’s tour will take him to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi, completing a pan-India celebration from December 13–15.
