Life-saving units deployed at reservoirs in Polonnaruwa for Poson Poya

Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - Life-saving units from the Sri Lanka Police and Navy have been deployed at all major tanks and reservoirs in the Anuradhapura district ahead of Poson Poya Day.

The District Disaster Management Unit (DMC) reported that a large crowd is gathering in Anuradhapura to mark the religious occasion. All life-saving units have been equipped with the necessary safety gear to ensure the public’s safety during the festive period.

In addition, safety boards have been placed at all tanks and reservoirs in the Anuradhapura district to guide the public and warn against unsafe bathing spots.

Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodippili, urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid bathing in unsafe areas within the Polonnaruwa district.

The Anuradhapura District DMC Emergency Control Unit has also issued an emergency hotline 117 which is available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English for public assistance.
