Dushanth Lewke has tendered his resignation as head coach of the Royal College rugby outfit but will continue as the school’s Rugby Director while indicating his plans to relocate later this year.

Lewke began his coaching journey at Royal College as an assistant coach, working closely under the guidance of former Kandy SC head coach and South African Yohan Taylor.

Under his leadership, Royal maintained high performance standards and continued to be a formidable force in schools rugby.

A former Royalist himself, Lewke brought with him invaluable experience gained at top club level with Kandy SC, CR and FC, as well as exposure at national level.

This wealth of experience translated into a disciplined, structured and forward-thinking approach, particularly in player development and game management running into his 14th year with his Alma mater. He was also the Sri Lanka forwards coach during the Asia Rugby Top Four in 2025.

Lewke will continue to support the Reid Avenue outfit until the conclusion of the knock-out tournament this year ensuring a smooth transition and stability during a crucial phase of the season.
