Colombo, May 29 (Daily Mirror) - Nalin Sampath Kumara, a lawyer, has lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record statements from MP Dayasiri Jayasekara and former MP Udaya Gammanpila over the claims they have made over the release of 323 containers by the Sri Lanka Customs.
He said MPs Jayasekara and Gammanpila had made statments on social media and mainstream media that crimes have increased in the country after the release of the containers on January 18 and claimed that the containers may have contained drugs and weapons.
He told the media after making the complaint that he bileives that MP Jayasekara and Gammanpila must have made the statments with credible information on the matter and that a statement must be recorded from them and the truth be revealed to the country.
He said even though they make statements, neither of them had lodged formal complaints with any investigation body.
"A reasonable and independent investigation must be conducted after recording their statements," he said.
