Apr.28 (Mirror Sports) - Kusal Mendis may have had his up and downs in his career, but the right handed wicketkeeper has been in prolific form in the last couple of years. Ever since he moved down the order in Test cricket, the former Prince of Wales College captain has had a decent run of form in all formats.

The 31-year-old who is currently taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is arguably having his best-ever franchise-based tournament having already scored 500 runs in nine innings at an average of 62.50. Mendis who plays for Peshawar Zalmi has helped them lead the points table with eight wins while making a gallant century against Karachi Kings.

The right handed batsman who has been batting at number three for Zalmi has also recorded four fifties which have led to victories.

Mendis has had to deal with some of Pakistan’s best fast bowlers such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Hasan Ali but what stood out was the way he handled the spinners. Mendis has this gifted ability to pick the length so well. Pakistan has produced so many brilliant spinners over the years, and they have also had mystery spinners such as Usman Tariq, but Mendis has swept them very well which enabled him to pile up the runs.

     Opanayake Express

Eshan Malinga who has been in the form of his life is now the highest wicket taker in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The right arm fast bowler of Sunrisers Hyderabad has now taken 14 wickets. CSKs Anshul Kamboj is the other bowler to have taken 14 wickets.

Malinga in an interview to SRH social media about his path to success said he considered giving up cricket in order to try and take care of his family but his family encouraged him to keep working hard for success. He said he was known as the Opanayake Express, a reference to a town in Ratnapura from where he hails.
