May.20 (Mirror Sports) - Mentored by Kumar Sangakkara, Rajasthan Royals boosted their IPL 2026 playoff hopes with a thrilling seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur on Tuesday.

Chasing a massive 221-run target, RR produced a sensational batting display to seal the win with five balls to spare. Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed a breathtaking 93 off just 38 balls, while Dhruv Jurel continued his fine form with his sixth half-century of the season.

Earlier, LSG posted 220/5 thanks to explosive knocks from Mitchell Marsh (96) and Josh Inglis, but RR’s fearless chase kept their playoff dream alive.

The victory lifted Rajasthan Royals to fourth place with 14 points from 13 matches, putting pressure on Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the race for the final playoff spots.

RR can secure direct qualification if they defeat Mumbai Indians in their final league match and move to 16 points. However, a defeat would leave them relying on other results and Net Run Rate calculations.

Stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal praised the team’s all-round effort after the crucial win, highlighting the performances of Jofra Archer, Brijesh and the match-winning partnership between Vaibhav and Jurel.

“I think everyone put in the hard yards and played really well. Everyone was into the game and working towards it. The way Jofra bowled and the way Brijesh bowled, because we knew the wicket was pretty good and runs were going to come, was unbelievable. The way Vaibhav and Dhruv batted, I think they killed the game. I’m really happy for the team — we needed it,” Jaiswal said.
