DEC.06, (Mirror Sports) - Virat Kohli has overtaken Sanath Jayasuriya to claim the second-most Player of the Series awards in ODI history, moving to 12-just three behind Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 15.
Kohli was named Player of the Series after a dominant ODI campaign against South Africa, where he smashed back-to-back centuries in the first two matches and followed up with an unbeaten 65 off 45 balls in the third ODI. He finished the series with 302 runs, steering India to a 2–1 series win.

The star batter said he feels the best he has in years, noting that he hasn’t played with this freedom in “2–3 years,” and that his clear mindset is helping both his confidence and the team’s performance.
Kohli also ended 2025 as India’s highest ODI run-scorer of the year, overtaking Rohit Sharma with a boundary off the final ball of the match.
