Kandy-Matara train derails at Maradana this morning

The train plying from Kandy to Matara was derailed near the Maradana Railway Station this morning, the Railway Department said.

The second compartment from the locomotive has derailed. No injuries were reported. The rear wheel coupling of the compartment dislocated.

The department said one track was damaged, and it is being repaired, and the derailed compartment is in the process of being retracted. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
