Colombo, January 24 (Daily Mirror) - The Jaffna Cultural Centre which had been named as Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre has been renamed again as Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre on the request of the people and the Tamil politicians.
The cultural center, established by the Indian government had been declared opened in 2023 by then President Ranil Wickremenghe and Indian Prime MinisteerNarendraModi and named as Jaffna Cultural Centre.
On January 18 it was renamed as Thiruvalluvar Cultural centre during a programme participated by the Indian Ambassador and several parliamentarians and ministers.
However, when the people and the politician representing the area who expressed concern about dropping the city name it was renamed as ‘Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre.
