Ja-Ela shooting update: Injured woman dies

The woman who sustained injuries when a gunman opened fire at Weligampitiya in Ja-Ela this morning succumbed to death a short while ago, the Police said.

The victim was admitted to the Colombo North (Ragama) Teaching Hospital and died while undergoing treatment.

The victim had been identified as a 40-year-old resident of Ja-Ela.

The motive behind the shooting, and the suspect were yet to be ascertained, the Police said.

The post-mortem examination to be conducted this evening.
