The Sri Lankans tourists who test positive for COVID-19 upon arrival would now be directed for home quarantine, the Health Ministry announced today.
Dr. Malkanthi Galhena, the Chief Specialist of the Home-based Treatment Medical Team said such individuals could now be sent home subject to medical supervision despite being either sympathetic or asymptomatic.
“The Sri Lankan tourists will undergo PCR test or Rapid Antigen Test at the airport. If they test positive, they can enter home-care treatment,” she stated.
“Such individuals can register themselves to home-care management via 1390 and obtain relevant guidelines,” she added.
Moreover, Dr. Galhena said the home-care treatment of COVID-19 patients had become a success during the last five months.
The quarantine procedure applicable for overseas tourists will continue as per the guidelines issued recently. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
