High possibility of thundershowers: Met Dept.

The Meteorology Department said that there is a high possibility of evening thundershowers over the island today and tomorrow.

In its weather forecast for the next 36 hours issued at 4 pm today, the department said showers or thundershowers would be occurred at most parts of the island in the evening and heavy falls about 100-150mm could be expected at some places.

“Showers will also occur along the coastal area in the morning. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern Provinces during the morning,” it said.

People were requested to take precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
