Heavy rains to continue till Sunday

Due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance towards the east of the country, more than 100mm of showers are expected over most parts of the country until Sunday (10), the Meteorology Department said.

Accordingly, heavy showers will be at several places over most parts of the country including in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts, they said. 

Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm could be expected at some places elsewhere.

General public are advised to take adequate precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from dangers caused by gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
