Government revokes Gazette on land settlement in North

Colombo, May 27 (Daily Mirror) - The government has revoked the Gazette issued on March 28, 2025 over the land settlement in the Northern Province.

Gazette notification No. 2430 was issued by the Land Title Settlement Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation over the setllement of lands in several villages in the Northern Province, the Ministry said.

Tamil politicians representing the North registerd their protest over the gazette, claiming that the government was attempting to aquire people's lands despite its promises to return land to its rightful owners.
