One of the generators at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant has malfunctioned again, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Additional General Manager and media spokesman Andrew Navamani said.

He said the generator was suspended due to pressure leakage of the pressure regulator.

He told the Daily Mirror that the power plant was stopped due to leakage of the pressure regulator.

Therefore, 270 MW of power generation added to the national grid has been stopped.

"130 mega watts of the Sojitz Kelanitissa Power Station, 60 mega watts of the barge-mounted power plant at Colombo Port and 48 mega watts of the Sapugaskanda Power Station will be lost due to the shortage of diesel and furnace oil, Mr. Navamani said.

If so, plant B of the Sapugaskanda Power Station will stop in a short period of time, and if so, 63 MW will be lost to the national grid.

Mr. Nawamani said that the demand for electricity has increased by 100 megawatts this week alone. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
