Colombo, March 16 (Daily Mirror) - A ship carrying 35,000 MT of fuel arrived in Sri Lanka today (16), and arrangements have been made to begin unloading the fuel on the same day, Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Mayura Netthikumarage, said.

Speaking to the media, he said the shipment includes 18,000 MT of diesel, 17,000 MT of petrol and 3,000 MT of super diesel.

Netthikumarage pointed out that ships ordered earlier are continuing to arrive in the country as scheduled, and steps have been taken to distribute fuel based on orders received from filling stations.

“At around 10.00 a.m. today, another ship arrived at the Colombo Port. Our officers are currently boarding the vessel and testing fuel samples. Once the testing process is completed, unloading will begin today itself,” he said.

He added that 616 orders have been received for CPC, while 204 orders were placed for Lanka IOC and 247 for Sinopec. Fuel distribution has been arranged accordingly to supply these orders.

Netthikumarage further noted that following discussions held yesterday, arrangements have been made to provide fuel from depots to passenger buses, and fuel bowsers were dispatched to the depots early this morning.

Meanwhile, he urged the public not to provide personal information to any websites or individuals other than the official government platform. He warned that some parties are attempting to collect information through fake accounts in relation to the fuel QR system.

He highlighted that fraudulent groups have already been reported to be gathering such data and generating fake QR codes, which could result in genuine users losing the opportunity to obtain valid QR codes.
