Colombo, May 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has arrested a 46-year-old woman accused of helping gunmen involved in the 2025 double murder near the Sirisara Uyana apartment complex in Borella. Police said that she allegedly transported and handed over firearms used in the attack.

The breakthrough came after authorities arrested the main suspect — a leading organized crime gang member from Borella — who had reportedly fled to Dubai. An international “Red Notice” had been issued against him before he was deported to Sri Lanka and taken into custody on May 22, 2026. He is currently being detained and questioned by the CCD.

The shooting took place on August 7, 2025, when two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire near the Sirisara Uyana apartment complex, killing two people and injuring three others. During interrogation, investigators recovered the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime from the Ingiriya area.

Police later raided an abandoned house in Borella linked to the main suspect and recovered two foreign-made revolvers along with four rounds of 9mm live ammunition hidden at the property.
