Extreme weather claims seven lives in past 24 hours

Colombo, June 02 (Daily Mirror) -  The Disaster Management Center reported seven fatalities due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has directed all provincial health directors to remain alert and make necessary directive to ensure the safety of people and the smooth function of the hospitals.

Health Ministry Secretary Dr Palitha Mahipala said he is currently on an inspection tour in the Matara area given the severity of the weather condition in the Southern district.

“All arrangements have been made to airlift patients in critical conditions for further treatment,” he said.

He also advised general public not to visit places which have been affected by the bad weather conditions.
