Colombo, June 1,(Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka recorded its highest-ever monthly export revenue in April 2026, as export earnings rose to USD 1.38 billion, marking a six per cent year-on-year growth.
Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mangala Wijesinghe said the achievement reflects the resilience of Sri Lankan exporters in overcoming external challenges while continuing to support the country's economic growth.
According to the EDB, merchandise exports in April increased by 9.8% year-on-year to USD 1,063.77 million, driven by strong performances across several key export sectors.
Meanwhile, earnings from services exports were estimated at USD 317 million during the month, further contributing to the record export performance.
Officials noted that total exports for the period from January to April 2026 are estimated at USD 5,784.38 million, reflecting a 4.3% growth compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
