The Eluwankulam entrance gate to the Wilpattu National Park has been closed to local and foreign tourists until further notice due to the recent heavy rains and the overflowing of the Kala Oya.

With the opening of the spill gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir, about 6,000 cubic feet of water flowing through Kala Oya has flowed through the Eluwankulam-Kala Oya shoe bridge, which leads to the Wilpattu National Park, completely flooding the area.

Accordingly, the Wildlife Unit in charge of the Eluwankulam entrance gate of the Wilpattu National Park states that tourists will not have the opportunity to visit Wilpattu until further notice.
