Eight senior police officers transferred

Colombo, January 31 (Daily Mirror) - Eight high-ranking police officers have been transferred with immediate effect, subject to the approval of the National Police Commission (NPC), Police sources said.

The transfers involve two Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs), five Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and one Superintendent of Police (SP).

Accordingly, DIG E.M.G.J. Seram has been transferred from the Galle Division and appointed as the DIG in charge of the Recruitment and Training Division, while DIG H.C.A. Pushpakumara has been transferred to serve as the DIG in charge of the Galle Division.

SSP T.H.E.L. Perera, previously in charge of the Gampola Division, has been transferred to the Colombo North Division. SSP K.N. Gunawardena has been moved from the Monaragala Division to Police Headquarters, while SSP B.A.R. Pushpakumara has been transferred from the Colombo North Division to serve as Director of the Special Airport Police Division.

SSP K.A. Udaya Kumara, who previously served as Director of the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit, has been appointed as the Officer in Charge of the Kalutara Division. SSP W.M.S.B. Wickramasinghe, formerly the Additional Director of Headquarters Administration at Police Headquarters, has been transferred as SSP in charge of the Monaragala Division.

Meanwhile, SP P.D. Ilangakoon, who was serving as Superintendent of Police in Kandy, has been transferred to the Gampola Division.
