Colombo, April 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Daily Mirror has expressed regret and concern over the unauthorized use of its exclusive news content by several online and social media-based news platforms.
In a statement, the newspaper said that a number of news brands have been reproducing and publishing Daily Mirror’s original stories without obtaining prior permission. The issue has reportedly intensified in recent days, with exclusive reports on both sports and political developments appearing on multiple external platforms.
The Daily Mirror highlighted that such actions constitute unethical journalistic practice and may amount to violations of copyright laws. The publication reiterated that considerable time, effort, and resources are invested in producing accurate and original reporting, and that unauthorized use undermines these efforts.
“We strongly encourage all media organizations and digital platforms to respect intellectual property rights and refrain from using our content without express permission,” the statement said.
The newspaper further highlighted the importance of maintaining professional standards within the media industry, noting that adherence to ethical guidelines is essential to preserving credibility and public trust.
The Daily Mirror called on relevant parties to act responsibly and uphold accepted journalistic norms when sourcing and sharing news content.
