Colombo,January 17 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP D.V. Chanaka criticised the government for failing to show progress in the first 110 days, despite expectations of improvement within 100 days.

Chanaka stated that the government should have prioritised providing three proper meals for the people, but many are now struggling to afford even one.

He stated that there has been a sharp rise in rice prices since the previous government handed control to the National People's Power (NPP), with red rice increasing from 185 to 340 per kilo and now unavailable in the market.

Responding to Wasantha Samarasinghe's claim that the rice shortage was due to the distribution of 20 kgs of rice packs by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Chanaka rejected this, stating that other types of rice were also distributed.

However, he further questioned why rice was unavailable in August last year, despite sufficient stocks being available before the New Year.
