Court orders banks, telecom firms to submit details in Hemarathana Thera case

Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - Siyapath Sasindu Wickremeratne, on a report submitted by the Sri Lanka Police, today ordered all state and private banks in the country to individually furnish reports on bank accounts maintained by the mother of the underaged girl allegedly raped by Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera.

The Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate also directed all state and private telecommunication companies to individually submit details of telephone conversations conducted through the mobile phones belonging to the girl and Ven. Hemarathana Thera.

Ven. Hemarathana Thera and the girl’s mother have been remanded until May 22.
