Court grants time till August 7 to file objections against Tennakoon’s anticipatory bail application

Colombo, August 5 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura today granted time till August 7 to file written objections against the anticipatory bail application filed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.

The Magistrate further stated that following the submission and consideration of the written objections, an appropriate order would be delivered shortly thereafter.

An anticipatory bail application was filed seeking a court order to grant bail in the event the petitioner is arrested as a suspect in connection with the investigation into the dispersal of protestors at the Galle Face Green in Colombo.

President's Counsel Ajith Pathirana appeared for the petitioner, with Counsel Tharindu Wickramaarachchi and Ayesha Gamage.

Senior State Counsel Oswald Perera appeared in court today on behalf of the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
