Commitee report to be presented to Parliament soon: Susil

Leader of the House Susil Premajayantha today assured that the report of the committee appointed to look into the riots that took place on May 9, 2022 will be presented to Parliament soon after speaking to President Ranil Wickremesinghe with regard to the matter.

Minister Premajayantha said he would inquire from the President if he had received the report.

"I don't know whether the committee report has been handed over to the President. I will make arrangements to present it to the House if it is possible,' he said.

Earlier opposition MP Wimal Weerawansa requested that the report be submitted to the House.

"A committee which comprises former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda to look into the incidents of May 9, 2022. Therefore we request that it be submitted to House so that people can also get to know what the committee has disclosed. If not the appointment of such committee would not serve any purpose,"the MP said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
