Colombo, June 5 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo National Hospital, the largest and most vital medical institution in Sri Lanka, has been operating without a permanent director for over three months.

According to reliable sources within the hospital, no key meetings, including crucial drug evaluation sessions have been held during this period.
The former Director of the hospital was promoted and transferred to the Ministry of Health as an Additional Secretary earlier this year.
While an Acting Deputy Director General was appointed two months ago, a permanent replacement has yet to be named.
Sources also revealed that the prolonged leadership vacuum has led to confusion and inefficiency in several hospital units.
"There’s a visible lack of direction. Departments are struggling to coordinate, and key decisions are being delayed," a senior medical officer said on condition of anonymity.
The hospital employs over 25,000 staff members, including around 1,500 doctors and more than 200 specialist consultants.
Daily Mirror’s continuous attempts to contact the Deputy Health Minister and a senior health official failed.
