Chandima Weerakkody joins SJB rally in Galle

Member of Parliament Chandima Weerakkody who belongs to clan of SLPP dissidents, appeared on the Samagi Jana Balawegaya ( SJB) stage in Galle yesterday.

When contacted by Daily Mirror, Weerakkody said he has no intention to obtain SJB membership, but would work towards forming a grand opposition alliance. 

"Our intention is to get all opposition forces under one umbrella. All right-thinking people should get together to defeat the present government. I got on to the SJB stage as a part of the process to build a grand opposition alliance," he said.

He got on to SJB stage at a rally on Hiniduma in Galle District, also said he would support Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa's efforts to end starvation faced by the people. (Yohan Perera)
