Canteens decide not to increase food prices: Canteen Owners’ Association

The All Island Canteen Owners' Association (AICOA) has decided not to increase the prices of canteen food items even though gas prices have increased.

AICOA Chief Asela Sampath told the Daily Mirror that the decision was taken to grant the price reduction concession of essential Commodities to consumers.

"The retail prices of essential commodities such as potatoes, onions and other vegetable items have reduced in the local market. That profit should be given to the consumers," he said.

The association requested the people not to buy foods at higher prices and told them to make complaints to the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) if food items were sold at higher prices. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
