Colombo, June 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Police has reported that 1,297 people were killed in road accidents across the country between January 1 and June 16, 2026.
According to police data, pedestrians and motorcyclists accounted for the majority of fatalities, with 448 pedestrians and 444 motorcyclists losing their lives during the period.
The death toll also included 124 passengers, 109 drivers, 85 pedal cyclists, 84 pillion riders, and three other road users.
