Colombo, March 20 (Daily Mirror) - The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) siad that fuel distribution to dealers will continue uninterrupted tomorrow and the day after, despite circulating rumors of a potential shutdown.
The Managing Director of the CPC, Mayura Neththikumara clarified today that no decision has been made to close filling stations over the weekend.
He addressed ongoing speculation regarding a Saturday closure, explaining that such rumors likely stem from the corporation's standard practice of remaining closed on one Saturday every month for routine administrative purposes.
However, Mr. Neththikumara siad that given the current high demand and specific technical requirements, the CPC will remain fully operational this Saturday. A key factor in this decision is the scheduled resetting of the QR code system on Saturday night, which requires the corporation’s active oversight to ensure a smooth transition for consumers.
"We have treated this as a special requirement. Because the QR system is being reset and maintained this Saturday night, the CPC will stay open to manage the process effectively," the Managing Director said.
He further assured the public that fuel dispatch operations could even extend into Sunday if a necessity arises, confirming that there are no logistical hurdles to doing so.
