CID records statements from captain of the New Diamond

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) recorded statements from the Captain of the MT New Diamond oil tanker yesterday, Police Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne said.

“The CID recorded statements from the captain at a quarantine centre in Galle on Saturday,” he said.

He said the facts with regard to the statement would be submitted by the CID officers to the Colombo Chief Magistrate tomorrow.

Earlier, the Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered the CID to record statements from the 23 crew members including the Captain of the oil tanker.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
