Blue Sapphires worth Rs. 370 million seized; Two including monk arrested

Koslanda, Feb 08 (Daily Mirror) - Two individuals, including a monk, were arrested while attempting to sell two Blue Sapphire gemstones valued at Rs. 370 million.

The arrest was made during a raid by Koslanda Police, acting on intelligence provided by the Army Intelligence Division.

The arrested monk resides in the Weliweriya area, while the other suspect, aged 72, is the father of a local politician from a prominent political party.

The seized gemstones are in the shape of pagodas and are suspected to have been obtained while treasure hunting.
