March 6 (Daily Mirror) - The Australian High Commission in Colombo today rejected claims circulating online that Sri Lanka has been classified as a high-risk travel destination for Australians, clarifying that there has been no change to Australia’s travel advisory for the island.
In a statement, the mission said Australia has not altered its official travel advice level for Sri Lanka despite misleading messages being shared on social media.
The High Commission urged Australians to rely on the official Smartraveller website for accurate and up-to-date travel information.
“If it’s not on Smartraveller, Aussies know it’s not fair dinkum travel advice,” the mission said, noting that some posts online had incorrectly suggested that Australia had revised its travel advisory for Sri Lanka.
