Arrested Moulavi handed over to TID

Ismail Mohammadu Nazeer, the suspect who was arrested over terrorism activities on May 1, has been handed over to the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) yesterday.

Police said the suspect, who is a Moulavi, was arrested by the Nikaweratiya Division Crimes Investigation Unit officers on May 1 and had been detained at the Rasnayaka Police Station.

The investigation revealed that he had undergone training with the Easter Sunday attacks' mastermind Zahran Hashim at Nuwara Eliya.

He was identified as a 41-year-old resident of Rasnayakapura.
