Ample job opportunities in Bahrain for skilled Sri Lankans: SLBFE Chief

Colombo, May 28 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lankan skilled workers have promising employment prospects in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Chairman Kosala Wickramasinghe said.

He made these remarks while participating in an interactive networking session held in Bahrain with representatives of licensed recruitment agencies operating in the country. The session was organised by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Bahrain.

Chairman Wickramasinghe, who is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom, held discussions with Bahraini authorities aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation on labour migration and enhancing the welfare and security of Sri Lankan expatriates.

Emphasising his commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of Sri Lankans working abroad, the SLBFE Chairman commended the ongoing support and active involvement of recruitment agencies based in Bahrain.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Bahrain, Ms. Shanika Dissanayake, highlighted the importance of promoting the recruitment of skilled workers in alignment with the government’s broader initiative to expand Sri Lanka’s skilled workforce and increase overseas job opportunities.

The discussions centred on streamlining the recruitment process for Sri Lankan workers in Bahrain, promoting ethical recruitment practices and strengthening welfare and protection measures for expatriate workers.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to work collaboratively in ensuring the well-being and security of Sri Lankan workers while exploring new avenues for employment in Bahrain’s thriving labour market.
